WELCOME

Thank You for stopping by! If you are searching for a birth or postpartum doula or perhaps just learning what a doula is, please take a minute to browse the site.  I am currently available for birth & postpartum care in the San Antonio, south/central Austin, San Marcos & New Braunfels areas. If you have any questions please feel free to contact me.  I am always happy to hear from you.

What is a doula? A doula is a non-judgemental woman who supports and assists new families with a quiet presence and gentle wisdom.  As a mother of four children ages 19, 17, 15, & 13, I understand the needs, cares and concerns of new mothers.  One of my goals as a postpartum doula is to help new families maintain a sense of balance and peace by offering emotional and practical support. Some of the services provided:

  • Encouraging & teaching parents how to care for their newborn. Including bathing, nail clipping, calming techniques, encouraging good sleep patterns and helping new parents learn to interpret their babies cues.

  • Breastfeeding support and information

  • Helping with household tasks including laundry, light housekeeping, grocery shopping & meal preparation.

  • Running errands

  • Accompanying mother and baby on first outings or doctors visits.

  • Encouraging new mothers to take care of themselves, to rest and be renewed by taking a much needed nap, a hot shower or providing a favorite meal.  Possibly by just being a friend that she can talk to.  As a postpartum doula part of my job is to help you gain confidence in yourself as a parent.

I have experience with twins, premature babies, infants with GERD(acid reflux) as well as colicky babies. Research has shown that the incidence of postpartum depression is greatly reduced with the help of a postpartum doula.
Unlike some postpartum doula services, I do not require a contract for a specified number of hours. I am flexible and can offer families a per hour rate of  $18.  I would also be happy to make arrangements with friends or family that would like to contribute towards your doula care as a gift to the new parents. If you think you might be interested in my services please feel free to contact me.  I would be happy to come for an interview free of charge.  I am currently available in the San Antonio, South/Central Austin, San Marcos & New Braunfels areas.

I had the pleasure of being with Sawyer and his mom Kim for 6 wks. Click on the link below to read a letter Kim sent for me to share with you.
Kim's Letter
Ira & Moses smiling for Daddy!
Being born early, Ira & Moses had many health concerns. Thanks to the support of Carol & several other doulas our family was able to find peace & rest during a stressful time in our lives.
Sasha Alexander
Sasha was born premature weighing less than 2 lbs at birth. When my mother had to leave unexpectedly Carol was more than willing to come in and handle Sasha's special needs while I was able to get some rest.
I had no experience caring for an infant and was so scared when I brought Jack home. Carol helped to build my confidence. She was patient and calm. I felt like she was there whenever I needed her to guide me. Carol helped me to be a better mother.
Liz W. & baby Jack
I don't know how to thank you for all you've done for us for the last 6 wks. You've been supportive, loving, encouraging, honest & funny! I am so.. grateful. We have been so blessed to have you on this amazing (often exhausting) journey and know you were sent straight from heaven above. Big hugs and many thanks. Keep up the great work you are doing!
Love,
Kristie & Olivia

Having Carol's help with my twins Christopher & Josephine was wonderful. She has alot of knowledge about child developement and stimulating the mind of a newborn. You could feel how much she genuinely cared about the babies & us. I never felt like she took over the babies which was important to me. She listened and helped me make decisions but never tried to push her opinion on me. The babies were very responsive to her. We all miss her.
